I began my working life in care and social work in London and the South East mainly with People with Learning Disabilities in residential, respite and day centres.

I studied Drama and Theatre In Education BA in Newcastle on Tyne and did Street Theatre and Outdoor Performance for a few years before returning to the South East and social work.

I moved to Devon to train in horticulture in the early 2000s and began working as a gardener/ hedge layer/ tree fella.

I trained in Integrated Energy Healing and was a journeyman healer on the festival circuit for seven summers, during which time I also trained as a Shamanic Practitioner which deepened my work.

Integrated Energy Healing developed from the work of Barbabara Brennan, a psychotherapist who trained with John Pierrakos, student of Wilhelm Reich and founder of Core Energetics, a form of mind-body psychotherapy.

I was inspired to train as a counsellor after a difficult personal experience of grief.

I realised how much need there was for counsellors to help people suffering. There are some kinds of emotional pain that we can not deal with on our own.

I trained in Integrative Counselling at Heartwood Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy at Dartington, since when I have worked with all sorts of people. I am very pleased to have my practise room on the beautiful Dartington Estate.

I also work as part of a Counselling Service in a Community Centre in Torquay.

I love working as a counsellor. I am motivated by a compassion for our common humanity, sourced from my own experiences of suffering and joy. Like most people, I have experienced times of heartbreak, separation, grief, loss, loneliness, anxiety and depression, shame and regret, as well as good times of great joy and humour.

I am in awe of the human spirit which I have the privilege of witnessing in my clients. It is an honour to be of service.
